Batch File Importer Overview

There are two different ways for Clutch to receive information from brands: JSON API Integration and Batch File Importer.

Integration is a direct API call which allows Clutch to receive transactions and any updates in real time. Batch File Importer is an automated push of information to a Secure File Transport Protocol (SFTP) location, which Clutch pulls from to receive.

When a brand partners with Clutch, all Skus, Customers, and Transactions are uploaded to a SFTP. Using a cadence determined by your brand, Clutch pulls this information into our database chronologically.

After the initial upload, the brand exports any changes in SKUs, Customers, and Transactions since the last time their export ran and continues this in perpetuity.

Clutch collects the following information:

SKUs

An import of SKUs allows Clutch to be alert for any new purchasable items.

Users/Customers

An import of Customers allows Clutch to update and add new users to your brand and create up to date customer profiles. If Clutch receives a new user, we will allocate a new card to this person. If it is an existing user, Clutch will find their current card and update any demographics and information.

Transactions

An import of Transactions allows Clutch to keep track of items and when they are purchased.

Through this Batch File Import, Clutch receives the necessary information about a brand to understand and help the brand succeed.
