Link Shortening

Link Shortening refers to the practice of making long URLs shorter. Link shortening is used commonly for social media application because it prevents URL’s from taking too much space and looks more aesthetically pleasing. In the Clutch platform, you can shorten links for mobile messages through the Configure Shortened Link function.

Note that link shortening in required for link level reporting.

To Shorten a Link when sending scheduled messages, follow the steps below:

Step 1

1.1 Navigate to Communications tab in Clutch Portal
1.2 Select Scheduled under Mobile Messaging
1.3 Select New Scheduled Message

Step 2

2.1 Create a name for the message
2.2 Determine if you want to create a SMS or MMS
2.3 Select Compose to move onto the next step

Step 3

3.1 Type the content of your message and simultaneously see the content appear in the prototype phone (Limit of 160 Characters if using a SMS)
3.2 Select Configure Shortened Link to add your link

Step 4

4.1 Enter Link URL
4.2 Create a name for the link (without spaces)
4.3 Select any applicable merge variables
4.4 Select Copy to Clipboard
4.5 Once complete, select Close

Step 5

5.1 Paste your link into the text field and view the extended URL
5.2 In the prototype phone, view the shortlink
5.2 Select Add Recipients to continue scheduling message (additional steps  to complete scheduling the message can be found here)
