How Do I Create a New Triggered Mobile Message?

To Create a new Triggered Mobile Message, follow the steps below. It is important to note that once you have created your triggered message content, you will need to reach out to your Clutch Account Manager and inform them of the name of the message and what campaign it should be associated with.

Step 1
1.1 Navigate to Communications section of Clutch Portal.
1.2 Navigate to Triggered Mobile Messaging.
1.3 Click the New Triggered Message button.

Step 2
2.1 Create a name for the message. This will be for internal use only.
2.2 Select SMS or MMS. SMS messages have less than 160 characters. MMS messages can have over 160 characters or include images, GIFs, or videos.
2.3 Optional: Provide Communications Tags for your message. By tagging and grouping messages, you can analyze how certain categories of messages are doing as a whole. To learn more about Communication Tags, read the article here.
2.4 Click Compose to move on to the next step.

Step 3
3.1 Optional: Create a subject for the MMS, which will appear at the top of your message.
3.2 Enter the content of your message. This is limited to 1000 characters.
3.3 Optional: Configure a shortlink.
3.4 Optional: Link to a promotion, such as a scratch off or coupon.
3.5 Optional: Add any merge variables.
3.6 Optional: For MMS messages, you can add an image, GIF, or video by clicking Select from Asset Manager.

Step 4
4.1 If sending an MMS, select the SMS Fallback tab.
4.2 Add an SMS Fallback. A Fallback SMS is set up for MMS messages so that you can send a message to all customers in a list, even those that cannot receive MMS.

Step 5
5.1 Optional: Send a test message. This is highly recommended.
5.2 Select a short code (phone numbers do not need to be opted in to receive a test message).
5.3 Enter up to 5 phone numbers to receive a test message (example: 2035551234, 2035552345).
5.4 Click the Send Test button and the recipient will receive the message.
5.5 Close the box when finished.

Step 6
6.1 Once you’re happy with your message, click the Complete and Save button.

Step 7
7.1 View your triggered message in the table.
7.2 Reach out to your Clutch Account Manager to associate your new message with a campaign. Your campaign will show under the Rule column.
