Opening a Clutch Segment Export in Excel

When you export a segment from Clutch, you’ll want to import the file into Excel a certain way. Follow the steps below to learn what to do.

Step 1
1.1  Navigate to the Segmentation tab in the Clutch Portal.
1.2 Click the Export button on the segment you wish to export. Note where the export saves on your computer. Do not open the file.

Step 2
2.1 Open a blank Excel file.

Step 3
3.1 Navigate to the Data tab.
3.2 Find the Get Data (Power Query) section and click on the drop-down.
3.3 From the dropdown, select the From Text option.

Note that the location of these options may vary based on your version of Excel.

Step 4
4.1 Clicking From Text will cause a pop-up to open. From here, find and select the data file you downloaded in Step 1.
4.2 Once you find the file, click on it and then click the Get Data button.

Step 5
Select the following options from the Import Wizard:

5.1 Select Delimited, then click next.

5.2 Select Comma, then click next.

5.3 Select the Customer ID column so it is highlighted.
5.4 Click the Text bubble to change the Customer ID section to text.
5.5 Click the Finish button.

You will then just need to confirm which cells you’d want to import the data into and click the Import button to finish this process. Your exported data will now be imported into this new Excel sheet.
