What is TLS?
TLS, or Transport Layer Security, are cryptographic protocols with the goal to provide privacy and data integrity between two or more communicating computer applications.
How many versions of TLS are there?
There are currently three versions of the TLS protocol in use today: TLS 1.0, 1.1, and 1.2.
Which versions are being sunset by Clutch?
TLS 1.0, the oldest of the three protocols, has been around for twenty years. Due to its’ age, companies are moving away from using this protocol.
TLS 1.1, though it has no known vulnerabilities at this point, it has been typically overlooked by TLS 1.2. You won’t often see TLS 1.1 used.
Due to these reasons, Clutch, like almost all other digital companies, will stop supporting TLS 1.0 and 1.1 as of 3/31/19.
Which version will Clutch be supporting?
TLS 1.2, which offers the most up-to-date and secure cryptographic protocols, will be supported by Clutch moving forward.
